The Marks of Freedom Part V
Beloved, count your blessings instead of the troubles that have come your way, count your joy instead of your tears and most importantly count on God and not on men. Our scriptural focus for today states – And even those who advocate circumcision don’t keep the whole law themselves. They only want you to be circumcised so they can boast about it and claim you as their disciples. {Gal 6:13 NLT}
The situation in the Galatian church was complicated because it was based on hypocrisy rather than on love for Christ and the advancement of His gospel. Those Jewish believers who were advocating for the Galatian believers to be circumcised as a condition for their salvation to be complete, did not wholly and entirely obey the law. If a man under the law fails to keep one aspect of the law he is guilt of all, so these people were only being hypocritical and not righteous. The truth Apostle Paul was passing to the Galatian believers and by extension to all who have believed in Christ is that if they accepted circumcision and depended on it for salvation, firstly they were under obligation to keep the whole law, secondly this will take them out of the way of Grace into religion and the traditions of men.
In our generation, circumcision is no longer an issue of faith but a medical requirement, but there are practices and belief systems that have been brought into the church that have the same idea of circumcision, that seeks to add to the work of Christ. On the cross Jesus said it is finished meaning that His death has fulfilled all that God required for the salvation and eternal freedom of humans.
Christ did it all.
Have a Grace filled day – Good news awaits you.
