The Purpose Of Good Works Part I
Beloved, life here on earth is short and limited, we can’t change the past events that were unpleasant, but we can trust the Holy Spirit to help us build a better future. Our scriptural focus for today states – Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. {Gal 6:10 NLT}
Believers in Christ have a measure of responsibility to all people, to do good to them when they have the opportunity. The earthly ministry of Jesus Christ was characterized with a lot of good works, and they were not limited to believers alone. It was part of His outreach strategy to reach the lost. For instance, when Jesus fed the 5,000 both believers and unbelievers participated. The instruction by God to believers to do good to everyone, is the process of showing God’s love to the world around us. Hear this words of Christ – In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. {Matt 5:16 NLT}
Beloved, it is not only by words that Christ expects us to witness to the lost around us but also through our good works. In fact our good works has the ability to pave the way for our verbal witnessing, and they will in most cases win us the right to be heard by unbelievers. We don’t also need to ask – Does this unbeliever deserve my good works before we go ahead to do it, because we never deserved the love of God yet, He bruised Christ for our redemption. As believers, we don’t do good works to be seen and celebrated by men, rather we do good works to demonstrate the love of Christ to this world and to advance the kingdom of God here on earth.
Good works are soul winning strategies.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
