Bearing Burdens Part V
Beloved, learn to choose your words wisely and carefully, because your words have creative abilities. When you speak under the influence of the Holy Spirit, you give life to what you’re saying. Our scriptural focus for today says – Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. {Gal 6:1 NLT}
The law of Christ is not the modified version of the law of Moses, rather it is the law of Love. Christ during His earth ministry gave us no other law than the law of Agape Love. Hear the words of Christ – So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. {John 13:34-35 NLT}
To love Jesus way means to bear one another’s burden, and you cannot truly and effectively bear one another’s burden if you do not love them. Believers in Christ must trust the Holy Spirit to develop strong shoulders and a heart of courage to enable them bear the burdens of others.
To fulfill the law of Christ which is to love one another, we as believers in Christ must understand the position of the scripture when it says Love covers a multitude of sin. Its not suggesting we cover the sins of our brethren, rather its establishing that through love we can bear/overlook the shortcomings/offences of others in order to show them the love of Christ. Those who fail to do so expose their lack of understanding of the law of Christ and how to fulfill it. Christ equally expects that we His children should go beyond praying and words of encouragement in bearing the burdens of others.
Allow love cover a multitude of offences.
