True Neighbour’s Part III
Beloved, your Christianity is only validated by the fruits of righteousness that proceeds from your life and not the religious activities you carry out in the church. Our scriptural focus for today states – For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself. {Gal 5:14 NLT}
The ability to genuinely love yourself and equally extend same to others is a process the Holy Spirit begins when a human accepts Jesus Christ into his/her life as his/her Lord and personal saviour. Due to the damage sin caused in the human life, most humans don’t even love themselves more so loving others.
After the new birth in Christ experience, the Holy Spirit starts that process of changing the human heart and thinking pattern to conform to that of God. Hear this – And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.. {Rm 5:5 NLT}
The ability to love your neighbours as yourself begin when you allow the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with the God kind of love. Its possible you’re a believer in Christ but still can’t truly love yourself or because of the hurting experiences your neighbours have put you through, you’re not also able to love them. You’re struggling to love either yourself or others because your doing it by your own strength, hear the words of God – By strength shall no man prevail. So quite trying to do it by yourself and turn to the Holy Spirit for help, you will be amazed what He will do with your life. He will so fill your heart and life with love that you can’t find that hurt, that resentment, that desire that wants to always revenge and not forgive or love any more.
Let the Holy Spirit fill your heart with love.
