True Neighbour’s Part II
The law of Moses had a purpose, the writing’s of the prophets also had a purpose, and Jesus Christ came to accomplish both the purpose of the law and the Prophets. Our scriptural focus for today states – For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself. {Gal 5:14 NLT}
Jesus brought about the principle of loving your neighbour as yourself to enhance the good virtues of the new life He was introducing in the human world. By the nature of sin that every human is born with, loving others is a difficult task not to talk of loving others the same way a human loves himself/herself because that nature of sin made every human selfish. Jesus introduced this principle to help those who have accepted the new way of living on earth that only Him can offer destroy the bad virtue of selfishness.
The corruption in our world today and other inhuman practices have their roots in selfishness, and Jesus is saying the only way to come out of these sinful vices is to upgrade our lives to where He is and become selfless. Loving your neighbour as yourself is that ability that only Christ offers that enables a human see and treat other humans like himself/herself.
Loving your neighbour as yourself does not automatically make your neighbours perfect, it does not remove the fact that they will still hurt you, but this principle helps you come to the point in your righteousness where you will never overcome acts of evil done to you with evil, rather you will always overcome acts of wickedness done to you with the love of Christ.
Loving your neighbour as yourself will make you to always think of their good, progress and prosperity. You cannot truly pray for someone else and get results if you don’t love that person the way you love yourself.
Love is the only antidote to selfishness
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
