Limitless Freedom Part II
Beloved, it is your understanding and faith in the finished work of Christ that guarantees your freedom from the slavery/bondage of the devil here on earth. Our scriptural focus for today states – For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. {Gal 5:13 NLT}
The freedom we are privileged to enjoy through our faith in Christ is not a license to throw caution to the wind and live as we please, away from the guiding principles of the scriptures. The freedom we have in Christ is that of liberation from sin, the bondage of the devil and the consequence of eternal destruction, and not a life of carelessness. There is the daily temptation to misuse the freedom we have in Christ. Some people have been lead into the deceptive doctrine of eternal security that does not emphasis a daily walk of righteousness. This deceptive doctrine has brought some believers to the point that a daily life of righteousness and sanctification is no longer an issue, they just believe that once they are saved, whether they live in righteousness or not their freedom in Christ is guaranteed.
If you claim to be a Christian, but continue in sin, it will be important you know that you have misused your freedom in Christ and if you do not redress your steps, you’re headed for eternal destruction.
That we are in the dispensation of grace does not give anyone who have genuinely accepted Christ as his/her personal saviour the liberty to use grace as an avenue to satisfy the sinful desires of the fallen human nature. Hear this – Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace, Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it. {Rm 6: 1 – 2 NLT}.
Don’t misuse your freedom in Christ.
Have a Grace filled year, Good News awaits you.
