Christ The Liberator Part IV
The person who lives his/her daily life worrying will always be consumed by the fear of the unknown, and will equally find it difficult to trust God through His word. Our scriptural focus for today states – For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. {Gal 5:4 NLT}
The coming of Christ to the earth was the fulfillment of the law and the prophets and therefore can no longer be the basis of divine relationship between God and humanity. Having fulfilled the requirements of the law once and for all through His death and resurrection, Apostle Paul declares to the Galatian Christians that if their intention of subjecting themselves to the difficult requirements of the law was to please God then that’s an effort in futility. He equally brings to their knowledge that seeking righteousness through the law alienates such people from Christ.
It will be important to state that when a person attributes his/her success, breakthrough or spiritual advancement in life to his/her service in the church or to his/her financial/material contributions in the church, that’s another expression of righteousness by the law and such alienates a person from Christ. When a person is alienated from Christ he/she automatically falls away from God’s grace, because Christ is the only source of divine grace to the human world. The Galatian Christians, like some Christians today wants to enjoy divine grace through the requirements of the law, it didn’t work then and cannot work now.
When a human is cut off from Christ and loses access to divine grace, that is the most miserable state a human can live in on this earth.
A human loses access to God’s grace when he/she begins to practice righteousness by the law because, the law is built on personal effort while grace is a free gift and our responsibility is to believe it and receive it by faith in Christ.
The law denies humans access to grace.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
