Deception Exposed Part II
Love is the foundation upon which godly and lasting relationships are built. As a Christian, if your life must please God, then you must learn to practice love as an action/attitude. Our scriptural focus for today states – If someone is eager to do good things for you, that’s all right; but let them do it all the time, not just when I’m with you. {Gal 4:18 NLT}
These false teachers were presenting what they were doing for the Galatian Christians as something good, and may have presented Apostle Paul’s criticism as a hindrance to their good works. It should actually be a thing of great concern in any society or church, were evil is presented as good and good presented as evil. This was the situation and level of deception that was brought into the Galatian Christian community. Apostle Paul was not against anyone with a godly intention to do good works for the Galatian Christians, but will definitely oppose those doing evil and calling it good. God expects us to stand against such in our world.
Apostle Paul also observed that this so called good works were
only done when he is around, for which he is opposed to because scripturally, good deeds should be the lifestyle of every true child of God and not something that is done one in a while to gain the favour of people. The intention of these false teachers for doing their good works only when Apostle Paul was around was an avenue to cast doubt in the mind/heart of the Galatian Christians, thereby leading to comparison between their own work and that of Apostle Paul.
What a strategy to discredit the labours of Apostle Paul. Such situations/practices greatly abound in our world and inside the church. Some false teachers are leveraging on the bad economic situation around the world to change the focus of the gospel from salvation from eternal damnation and eternity with God to good works. That good works are good cannot be over emphasized but that is not the focus of the gospel. Whenever the devil offers any human a supposedly good thing, know that it is always in exchange for something Priceless.
Good works can be used as a tool of deception, Be careful.
Have a Grace filled day, Good News awaits you.
