Grace and the Calling Part IV
Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get to know Peter, and I stayed with him for fifteen days. The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother.{Gal 1:18 – 19 NLT}
As a believer, if you live your life with the regrets of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow, bear in mind that you will not have a future to be thankful to God. Our scriptural focus for today states – Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get to know Peter, and I stayed with him for fifteen days. The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother.
Apostle Paul continues the account of his experience after his conversion, this time he focuses on his meeting with two of the Apostles, which are Apostle Peter who was the oldest and one of the leaders of the church at that time and Apostle James who was the Lord’s brother and also one of the leaders of the church. The reason for his visit was to get to know peter personally and equally to meet James. He gives these accounts to establish that he was not indebted to any person not even the apostles that were before him since he met only Peter and James in the course of his visit to Jerusalem, regrating his knowledge of the gospel or his authority to preach it.
Your authority to preach the gospel or the knowledge of it, should not be tied to any human but should be solely based on your personal encounters with Christ through the revelations of the Holy Spirit. You will always have the privilege of meeting older believers who began the Christian life before you, but making them the basis of your authority in the gospel will be a great departure from the purpose of Christ.
Christ is the only source of Spiritual authority.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
