Standing Fast III
And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life. {Phil 4:3 NLT}
Divine wisdom saves a believer from many difficulties in life and it also empowers him/her to handle circumstances that present themselves as impossibilities and positions the believer to receive eternal rewards. Our scriptural focus for today states – And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life.
Apostle Paul being a man full of divine wisdom, did not allow these women to be totally responsible for the settlement of the dispute between them, he calls on others who are more matured in the faith to help resolve the disagreement. Its obvious that if the disagreement between these two women is ignored, or allowed to escalate, its consequences will be far more destructive. Mostly like it will introduce division and party spirit in the Philippian church. Apostle Paul believes more in the Unity of the church than whatever it was that caused the disagreement between the two women. Having had the privilege of labouring with him in the gospel, he didnt want there labour of love to be in vein.
We cannot take away the fact that there will be disagreements in the church from time to time, but the big question confronting us as believers is – In times of disagreements either between two brethren or more what position should we take?. Are you going take sides with the person you call your friend whether he/she is right or wrong against another child of God, or Are you going to be like Apostle Paul who puts the Interest of God first and moved for Peace not minding who is right or wrong. The choice is yours.
