True Citizenship III
He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. {Phil 3:21 NLT}
Those who mind earthly things always put in all there efforts to achieving them, but the citizens of heaven understand spiritual things and enjoy committing everything within them to achieving it and also sharing such with others. Our scriptural focus for today states – He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
The spiritually minded believer does not live for the things of this world, rather he/she anticipates the glorious life of the world to come. This does not mean that he/she ignores or neglects his/her daily obligations, but it means that what he/she does here on earth is governed by what Christ will do in the future.
The human body is referred to here as been Weak, this is due to the damage sin has had on it over time. Adam had a glorious body from creation, which was not meant to be weak or be subject to death but was to live forever. When sin came in it brought with it all manner of things like sickness, abuse of the human body, ageing, death etc that causes the human body to be weak. What an exciting word of promise from the Holy Spirit – that if you as a believer remains committed to the life of righteousness here on earth, that a day is coming when Christ will liberate the human body. His death on the cross liberated the human spirit from sin and bondage, but His second coming will liberate the human body from ageing and death. Finally believers will have the great privilege and demonstration of Gods love by been clothed with the same Spiritual body that Christ has.
The changing of our bodies is the beginning of eternal glory.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
