Following godly Examples V
Their future is eternal loss, for their god is their appetite: they are proud of what they should be ashamed of; and all they think about is this life here on earth. {Phil 3:19 TLB}
The freedom you have in Christ as a believer, is not an opportunity to either be selfish or self-centered, rather it is a life time opportunity to serve others and desire to be the best you can be under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit. Our scriptural focus for today states – They are proud of what they should be ashamed of; and all they think about is this life here on earth. These persons the Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul is describing in this scripture, are people who claim to be believers but in their lifestyle falls below Christ standards of godliness. It will be important to emphasize that there is certainly nothing wrong with believers caring about their earthly needs, but there is everything wrong with believers living for earthly gains alone and putting aside their eternal destiny in Christ.
Today we see believers celebrate things that they should be ashamed of doing. Its no longer news that believers indulge in modes of living that is embarrassing the purpose of Christ on the earth, yet they feel comfortable doing it because, the belief is that earthly blessings are pointers to Gods approval on a man’s life.
Hear this – And if being a Christian is of value to us only now in this life, we are the most miserable of creatures. {1Cor 15:19 TLB}
There is a growing quest to achieve honour, wealth, popularity and enjoy the pleasures of this life among believers, because of the way and manner these things are been celebrated in the body of Christ. Please do not allow any preacher or your fellow believer, or even yourself deceive you into thinking that getting the best of this life is the most important treasure, because life ends here on earth.
Let your focus be more on eternity with Christ rather than on a passing earthly life.
