Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith. {Phil 3:1 NLT}
The source of Joy for every believer, should not be in riches, nor in gaiety, nor in vanity, nor in ambitions nor in the world system, but should be in the undeserved privilege of sharing communion with Christ and in the hope of eternity with Him. Our scriptural focus for today states – Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith.
The idea here is that, it is the duty of believers to always rejoice in the Lord Jesus Christ, not minding the situations around us per time. The word “Rejoice” appeared many times in this epistle and it seems from this repeated emphasis, that it was a great need in the Philippian church. It will be important to state that in the current church, most believers equally needs this challenge often, because it is easy for believers to allow circumstances of life to always discourage them and presenting it as though we serve a Christ who does not truly care about us. The cure for the discouragements the devil brings our way is to rivet our attention on the Lord Jesus and rejoice in Him always.
It is truly significant and challenging that Apostle Paul who at this time was a Rome prisoner would be the one the Holy Spirit is using to encourage the believers of his days to rejoice in the Lord and he doesn’t see it grievous or trying to say so, bearing in mind that it should have been the other way round. What a worthy example he was and still is to the body of Christ. Apostle Paul learnt what every believer needs to learn in our walk with the Lord – that there should be rejoicing in the Lord even when outward circumstances are presenting themselves as contrary to the Spirit of faith we possess.
Rejoicing in the Lord safeguards your faith.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
