I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. {Phil 2:20 NLT}
As believers, the issue of the motive and intention behind the things we do in the church and in the society must be taken very seriously, if we hope to always get Gods approval and for those actions to be counted unto us as righteousness. Our scriptural focus for today states – I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. This statement by Apostle Paul demonstrates the integrity and the level of trust he has on the young man Timothy. ‘I have no one else like Timothy’ – this shows that there were other believers with Apostle Paul beside Timothy but he can boldly say in the matter of caring for the Philippian church, no one can do it better than Timothy. What a testimony.
This testimony about Timothy, raises the issue of Dependability that is rooted in sincerity and genuine service to the brethren. Its clear that Timothy’s concern and love for the brethren in the Philippian church was not in anyway based on the rewards he hoped to get either from Apostle Paul as the leader or from the church as compensation for his labour. He genuinely and wholeheartedly cared for the welfare of the brethren both spiritual and physical.
This definitely is one of the exemplary Christian living that Apostle Paul wanted to see in the lives of his followers for which he said in the earlier verse – Allow the same mind/attitude be in you, which was in Christ Jesus.
There is a divine call for believers to be genuine and sincere in their care for other believers, we see concerns/care today that are not based on godly love, rather on perceived rewards that should come to the the individual. The question is ‘Are you dependable – Is you love for the brethren genuine’.
Be a person driven by genuine care for others.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
