As believers, we don’t stand or fight spiritual battles alone, because there should be other believers who stand together with us to provide support and encouragement. Our scriptural focus for today states – To bring you up to date, Tychicus will give you a full report about what I am doing and how I am getting along. He is a beloved brother and faithful helper in the Lord’s work. Apostle Paul was not the type of missionary/believer that kept the report of the work God was doing through him secretly, hear him again – To bring you up to date, Tychicus will give you a full report about what I am doing. This establishes the importance of accountability both in the work of ministry and personal life, because it will to a great extent encourage also those who have supported the work either through prayer, financially etc. Also note that Apostle Paul’s purpose for updating the brethren with the progress report was not selfish nor was it to get something out them.
Tychicus was a great help and encouragement to Paul in the ministry, in the same vein, God expects us as believers to provide support and encouragement to those ministers of the gospel who are at the forefront or in fulltime ministry.
We are all part of the family of God and He does not expect to see any Isolated missionary/believer. Believers are like sheep; they should always flock together.
