Danny Haag, a native of Huron County, Michigan, recently became an author, sharing his incredible personal journey and faith through his writings. In 2024, he published two Christian books: “God Can Use Others to Save You” and “The Full Christmas Story.”
Early Life and Personal Struggles
Haag struggled with substance misuse during his teenage years. Beginning at the age of thirteen, he suffered with nicotine addiction and alcohol misuse, resulting in several periods of drunken conduct. These practices remained throughout his early adulthood, bringing emotional pain and misery.
A Transformative Relationship
Haag’s life changed dramatically when he met an outstanding young Christian woman. Through their friendship, he was introduced to Christian values, which were critical in his path to recovery and faith. This partnership not only helped him grow personally, but it also evolved into a lovely love tale.
Life-Threatening Incident and Spiritual Awakening
A near-fatal occurrence in Monterey, California served as a watershed moment in Haag’s life. Following a night of excessive drinking, he and a companion confronted the perils of hypothermia. Reflecting on this incident, Haag regarded it as a supernatural intervention, causing him to reconsider his life choices and choose a path that was consistent with his beliefs.
Authorship and Sharing His Story
Motivated by his experiences, Haag authored “God Can Use Others to Save You,” detailing his struggles with addiction and his journey to faith, emphasizing the influence of his late wife, Shirley. Additionally, he compiled “The Full Christmas Story,” a collection of Bible verses narrating the Christmas story, a project he began for his grandchildren that spanned four decades.
Current Endeavors
Haag is a full-time accountant who currently resides in Cass City, Michigan. He actively tells his testimony in churches and recovery meetings, hoping to encourage others going through similar challenges. His novels are accessible on platforms such as Barnes & Noble and Amazon, and he intends to have a book signing at the Bad Axe Area District Library this March.
