Topic: Daily Christian Living – Changing The Way You Think
Text: Rm 12:1-2
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Question 1 – Before the salvation experience, was anything wrong with the thinking pattern of humans?
Yes. As a matter of fact, the thought pattern of humans after the fall was summarized in Genesis 6:5 AMP:The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually.
Question 2 – Is our changed thinking pattern a product of our new life in Christ ?
One of the first visible signs of the new life in Christ is a changed thinking pattern that no longer reflects the devil and his sinful nature but a new way of thinking that determines our actions and behaviours that reflects the character and personality of Christ.
Question 3 – Is the responsibility of transforming a believers thinking pattern that of God alone?
Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think – places the responsibility of the human transformation on both God and the individual to be transformed. So the responsibility is both on God and the individual.
Question 4 – Is the transformation of the mind/thinking pattern of a believer an automatic event that happens at salvation?
No it is not an automatic event that happens at salvation – rather its your personal walk and devotion to the Holy Spirit and God’s word that produces the transformation of your mind/thinking pattern.
Question 5 – Are there practical steps a believer can take in transforming his/her thinking pattern?
Yes there are;
Regular study God’s word
A lifestyle of prayer, especially praying in the Holy Ghost
Fellowship with other believers
Living a life of forgiveness, even when you have good reasons to revenge.
Take Away Thought
God has the power to do all things but there are things He expects you to take responsibility about. If you refuse to cooperate with Him, you will never have the privilege of enjoying a transformed pattern of thinking which is the God kind of thinking here on earth.
