Text: Rm 12:1-2
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Question 1 – What are the attributes of a person dead to sin?
The first attribute of a person dead to sin – Is that the desire to sin has been taken away or put to death by the presence of Christ in such a life. Secondly living in the consciousness of the presence of the Holy One in him/her.
Question 2 – How can a believer activate the human Spirit to conform to God’s Spirit?
A. By daily praying in the Holy Ghost
B. By daily reading/studying the word of God
C. By consciously and continually refusing to satisfy the desires of the flesh.
D. Also daily meditation on the scriptures
Note – The less you study the word of God and pray in the Holy Spirit and practice to confess the word of God, the more you’re activating the sinful natur, But the more you make out time to read and study the word of God and pray in the Holy Spirit daily and equally confess the scriptures regularly the more sin is put to death in your life and the more righteousness is a lifestyle.
Question 3 – Can the sinful nature be reactivated in a believers life.
The sinful nature is a spirit, therefore at the salvation experience, it looses it controlling power/influence over a believer because of the coming in of the Holy Spirit into that life that leads to the exist of the sinful nature from that life. But if the believer abandons the various spiritual disciplines/habits that will sustain his/her new life in Christ and begins to go back to sin, then he/she is opening the door to the sinful nature to come back and take over again.
Take Away Thought
Do you know that the word of God and the Holy Spirit are the two weapons given to the believer by Christ to permanently put the sinful nature to death as long as we are on this earth, make the best out of these weapons.
