Topic: Immediate Consequences Of The Fall Of Man Part 5
Text: Gen 3: 16 – 23
Question 1
Did God say l will cause the woman to have pain during childbirth or Did He multiple the pain that a woman should experience during childbirth?
NIV:To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
NLT:Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy,
You can only multiply, sharpen, or make severe something that was already there, else you are just creating it. So we can say that because of the process of bringing a child into the world, there was to be a very small discomfort (pain) that should go with it but the curse now increased it and brought all manner of pain during pregnancy.
Question 2
So what pain was introduced by the curse that the death and resurrection of Christ has dealt with?
[NLT] 1 Timothy 2:15 But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty.
The work of Christ has saved every Christian woman first from the pain of death through pregnancy and secondly from all other excessive pain during pregnancy but she must know this truth and believe God by faith to appropriate the work of Christ in her life.
Conclusion
The pain in childbirth was there from the beginning but was meant to be very small because of the process of bringing out the Baby.
The curse only increased the small pain to a great pain that is capable of taking the life of a woman.
The solution of Christ through redemption is to save women who are in Christ from death through childbirth, excessive pains and other forms of discomfort.
Above all Christ expects His children to understand this and walk by Faith to make it happen.
