Text: Romans 8: 1 – 9

1. Freedom from Judgement – No Condemnation
The act of condemning or pronouncing to be wrong; censure; blame; disapprobation.
The basis for this wonderful assurance is the phrase “In Christ Jesus”.
In Adam we were Condemned, but In Christ – There is No Condemnation.
The Law of Moses condemns; but the Believer has a New relationship to the law, and therefore he (A Believer) cannot be condemned.

Three Reasons why a Believer is Not Condemned
1. The Law cannot claim ownership of a Believer (v.2)
A believer has been made free from the law of sin and death, you now have life in the Spirit. You are dead to the law – Rom 7:4, and free from the law Rom 8:2
2. The Law cannot Condemn a Believer (v.3)
Christ has already suffered the condemnation of a believer on the cross.
Jesus did not come to the earth ‘in sinful flesh’ for that would have made Him a sinner, He came in the likeness of sinful flesh, as a man.
3. The law cannot control a Believer (v.4)
The believer lives a righteous life not in the of the power of the law but in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The righteousness that God demands in His law is fulfilled in a Believer through the empowerment that comes from the Holy Spirit.
2. Freedom from Mental Captivity
A. Holy/godly Thoughts (v.5)
B. A mind controlled by the Holy Spirit leads to Life and Peace (v. 6)
