This letter is from Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus. I am writing to all of God’s holy people in Philippi who belong to Christ Jesus, including the elders and deacons. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. {Phil 1: 1 – 2 NLT}
Believers in every age need to be remained that God is the only permanent source of our security and salvation. At the same time, He is our Father. Our scriptural focus for today states – May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. The concept of God as Father was not the teaching and practice in Judaism, and the major problem Christ had with the Pharisees was His authoritative teaching/proclamation of God as His Father during His earthly ministry. Apostle Paul uses this as part of his salutation and prayer for the early churches in his letters. It is no longer an issue for debate, that God is the Father of all who have acknowledged Christ as both Lord and Saviour. As a good Father, He empowers believers with the following spiritual virtues:
1. Grace – This is Gods ability made available to man to do what naturally he/she will be unable to do in order to achieve an extraordinary life here on earth.
2. Peace – This is a spiritual mindset that is based on the sufficiency of God to the believer and not on earthly acquisitions.
God through Christ has given to every believer Grace and Peace, but the responsibility is on individual believers to either build there life on these or accept what the world is offering which will be disastrous in the long run.
Accept the grace and peace God has given you.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
