Go The Extra Mile Part II
As a Christian, if you learn to always live a lifestyle of love, be rest assured that it will eliminate jealousy and envy, and whatever you do will be in the best interest of others. Our scriptural focus for today states – Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives. {Gal 4:19 NLT}
Apostle Paul likens how he was feeling inside him to that of a pregnant woman in labour. When a pregnant woman goes through labour pains, it is never palatable, because the pains are always unbearable whether the period of labour was short or long. No matter how unbearable the pains might be, the moment she brings forth her baby, the joy and happiness the new baby brings takes away the labour pains and any other difficult she had during the pregnancy.
Apostle Paul only purpose for allowing himself go through such pain was to see Christ fully formed in the life of the Galatian Christians. For him, their maturity in Christ was his own new baby that will take away his own labour pains. He said – these labour pains will continue until I see that Christ has been fully developed in your lives. He didn’t want to produce half baked Christians, for that reason, he was willing to go the extra mile to ensure that the church was made up of people who had fully developed in the knowledge of Christ and not in empty religion.
Apostle Paul exemplifies for us again the meaning and process of true discipleship. It will be important to note that our discipleship will never be complete until Christ is fully developed in our lives or in the lives of those we are privileged to disciple on our earthly pilgrimage. Be willing to go the extra mile to see that Christ is fully formed in your own life first and secondly in the lives of others.
Go through the process and be Christ empowered
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
