The Marks of Freedom Part II
Beloved, you may know what you’re doing, but the big question is why are you doing what you’re doing. Bear in mind that a good work is spoiled by a bad motive. Our scriptural focus for today states – Those who are trying to force you to be circumcised want to look good to others. They don’t want to be persecuted for teaching that the cross of Christ alone can save. {Gal 6:12 NLT}
The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul was making it clear to the Galatian Christians and secondly to all who will believe in Christ that a believer who lives under the law and a believer who lives under grace are diametrically opposed to each other. It is not just a matter of different doctrines, but that of two different belief system and ways of life.
Some Jewish believers who still held on to the doctrine of circumcision even after their being born again brought a lot of confusion into the Galatian church which was threatening to destroy the work of grace the Holy Spirit had used Apostle Paul to accomplish in the lives of these Galatians. They employed every strategy possible even to the point of using force to accomplish their mission of leading these believers away from the truth into falsehood.
Similarly, there are believers today who even though they are born again are still holding onto some doctrines and practices of the law and their native traditions which the death and resurrection of Christ has permanently abolished. They are using these wrong beliefs to destroy the message of Grace and cause confusion in the lives of believers today. The aim of all this twisting of the message of Grace is to present a gospel that sounds good and does not put any demand of righteousness on those who hear it.
Fear and confusion are not the attributes of the message of Grace.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
