Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. {Phil 2:16  NLT}

The gospel of Christ stands thus in contrast with all other human systems of religion, because they do not have the ability to turn a sinner into a saint, nor do they have a promise of a good life with God after our earthly pilgrimage. Our scriptural focus for today states – Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. The Word of Life means the Gospel of Christ or the Good News about Jesus. It is your obligation as a believer to represent and defend the Gospel of Christ anywhere you find yourself. It has become more obvious than ever before, that believers should stand firm for the Gospel. It is the only message that has the ability to save the world from destruction.
Replacing the preaching of the Word of Life with other principles that will make only for a good life here on earth and does not have eternal value on the lives of those who hear it, is definitely a misplacement of the purpose of the death and resurrection of Christ.
Apostle Paul admonished these brethren to stand for the Word of life for two very important reasons
1. That on the day of Christ, He will be proud of the work he did, knowing that it was not in vain.
2. That the time and effort put into the propagation of the gospel was not useless.
Standing for the gospel irrespective of the difficulties/challenges you may face is another way of validating the labours of those who have contributed to your spiritual development.
Giving in to the pressures of sin or living a life of compromise is simply cooperating with the devil to nullify the labours of those who have presented the Word of life to you.

Stand for the gospel, present it to the world around you, save the much you can.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
