The Gospel is Love Part I

Beloved, humility, patience and generosity are the surest proofs of the increase of the Christ-kind of love in the life of a Christian. Our scriptural focus for today states – He has told us about the love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you. {Col 1:8  NLT}
During the stay of Epaphras with the Colossian brethren, he modelled the Good News about Christ to them. He was a great example they could learn the true virtues of Christianity from. No wonder Apostle Paul describes him as a faithful servant and a great help to the work in the Colossian church.
Having seen Epaphras demonstrate the selfless love of Christ, they in turn allowed the Holy Spirit to create such ability to be able to love others. It will be important to state that one of the greatest damages sin caused in the lives of humans was selfishness, and only the new life in Christ through the ministry of the Holy Spirit can permanently transform humans to be selfless.
The Colossian brethren have equally learnt to love others the same way Epaphras loved them and sacrificed his life to bring the gospel to them.
As a believer in Christ, you must deliberately allow the Holy Spirit root out selfishness from your life and replace it with the love of Christ, because the gospel is based of Love. Consider this – And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. {Rm 5:5}.

Love others so fulfill the law of Christ.

Have a Grace filled day – Good news awaits you.
