Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free. {Eph 6:8 NLT}
Without the genuine good works of love and hospitality done for our fellow humans in the name of Christ, Christianity has lost its real essence and value on this earth. Our scriptural focus for today states – Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free. God is the only One that will reward all the good works you do in His name and not your earthly boss nor any other human, is a fact that should be very clear to all believers. That is why He{God} warns against eye-service or doing good because you desire a favour from the leader. Gods reward system is different from that of humans, humans can reward you for eye-service, deceptive loyalty etc, because humans do not have the ability to see and know the thoughts and intents of the heart. Note that rewards gotten through such means will not last long and will in the future deprive you of Gods own blessings which are eternal. Because God has the ability to both see and know the thoughts and intents of every human heart, His reward system is based on two major premise;
1. Faithfulness to the assignment.
2. The motives behind the good works.
My dear, be faithful to your assignment, whether humans acknowledge you or not, and let your motives for doing good works be primarily to demonstrate the love of Christ to the world. Hear these words – So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. {Gal 6:9 NLT}.
Gods reward is both here on earth and ultimately in heaven.
