Bearing Burdens Part III

Beloved, if you allow your personal desires and not the Holy Spirit control your decision making, it will definitely stunt your spiritual development. Our scriptural focus for today states – Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. {Gal 6:1 NLT}
When a brother/sister is overtaken by some sin, its not the time for those who are more matured and are standing in righteousness to condemn such brother/sister and make them sinners when Christ has not said so. Those who have the privilege of helping others come back to their faith in Christ must do it from the point of love and mercy. It was love and mercy that made Jesus Christ take the place of humans in death and provided the platform for restoration and reconciliation with God.
The scripture is suggesting that those who will help restore others back to their faith in Christ must do it gently and humbly. That means in the bid to restore a brother/sister, you must not present yourself a Super believer in Christ, whose righteousness is out of this world. Equally you are not expected by Christ to humiliate a brother/sister while helping such back on their feet spiritually.
To be gentle and humble does not suggest giving a brother/sister the false impression that he/she is like fishes in the river and cannot do without water, rather it is obviously about our approach while helping such people. It will be important to emphasize that you must not become a victim of the same sin you’re helping the brother/sister come out from. Therefore helping brethren back on their feet spiritually requires a lot of carefulness and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Be vigilant, be Holy Spirit inspired.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News Awaits you.
