Slavery Exposed Part I
Today will never come again, be a blessing to someone, be a friend to someone, be a source of encouragement to someone, ensure that your words provides healing and not wounds to those you meet. Our scriptural focus for today states – Before you Gentiles knew God, you were slaves to so-called gods that do not even exist. {Gal 4:8 NLT}
The days before the revelation of Christ in human form to the world, idolatry was ravaging the entire human race but especially the Gentiles. The Gentile nations worshipped all manner of beings, and they sometimes felt it was an avenue to reach the only true God. At some points, some Gentile nations felt there may still be a god which they are yet to know and worship. This we see in Apostle Paul’s missionary journey to Athens – For as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about. {Acts 17:23 NLT}.
The many shrines and gods that the Gentile nations worshipped brought them into slavery with the devil. When the Bible talks about Gentiles, it refers to all other nations outside the physical nation of Israel before the coming of Christ.
The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul uses the phrase – gods that do not exist to describe the idols that held the Gentiles in bondage, because before God these idols that humans fear are counted as Nothing.
God expects His children living on this earth to equally see these idols as Nothing, as powerless beings and as gods that do not exist. Until believers world over begins to see and treat satan and all his demons the way God sees and treats them, the true power of God that He has invested in us will not fully manifest.
Don’t remain a slave to satan
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
