Spiritual Circumcision Part II
Beloved, devote your time and energy to seek God and the righteousness He offers because that is the basis for every other addition that He will bring into your life. Our scriptural focus for today states – When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. {Col2:11 NLT}
The Holy Spirit wanted the Colossian brethren and all who will ever come to Christ through faith to believe that their union with Christ brought them to the place of eternal freedom, where they will not require any physical process to be made right with God.
Beloved, when you came to Christ, He performed a spiritual circumcision on you, which is the cutting away of your sinful nature. From that moment, you no longer have the sinful nature at work in your life, but whatever attribute/characteristic of the sinful nature that finds itself operational in your life, is the personal choice that you made to allow such. The great key to spiritual freedom is the proper understanding of what the death and resurrection of Christ made available for the believer.
Again, understand that Christ has cut off the sinful nature from your life and if the devil wants to oppress you or deceive you into thinking or believing that you cannot be free from any particular characteristic of the sinful nature, boldly remind him that Christ has Cut it off from your life, therefore you’re no longer under it. What a joy to understand what Christ has done. Christ did not cut off the sinful nature from your life for a season, No, it is an Everlasting Circumcision, but only requires your daily growth in godliness to sustain it.
The sinful nature has been cut off, you’re truly free in Christ.
