The Work of Christ VIII

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. {Gal 1:10  NLT}

One of the main difference between believers and unbelievers is that, unbelievers seek to please themselves and people, while the believers sole aim is to please Christ in all things. Our scriptural focus for today states – Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
Apostle Paul had once been on the path of religion, where his sole aim was to please men at the expense of Christ. He makes bold to say, that if he had continued pursuing that purpose, he would not have any business being a servant of Christ. In essence, apostle paul is saying, from the day Christ became his Lord and Saviour, he abandoned the purpose of pleasing men as a way of life and embraced the most important purpose of life, which is to please God.
As a believer, your aim should not be to please men, rather Christ should be the one you want to please at all cost. It is obvious that as believers, we must differ from the world in the purpose/motive behind the things we do.
A friend of Christ must do his duty, and must equally regulate his/her conduct by the will of God, whether people are pleased with it or not. Bear in mind that the more you as a believer aim at pleasing men whether consciously or unconsciously, the more you loose the privileges you have in Christ and vice versa.

Make pleasing Christ your only goal in life.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
