Learning From The Past Part I

As a Christian, satan seeks to defeat you on your earthly pilgrimage by tempting you to trust in your own wisdom and abilities. Don’t be a victim of his deception, trust in God always with all you have. Our scriptural focus for today states – The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. {Gal 4:22  NLT}

The life and times of father Abraham left so much knowledge for modern day Christianity to learn from in our walk with God. He is the father of faith and the greatest human example of obedience to God at any cost but there were still decisions he made during his life time that were outside the plan and purpose of God for his life which we need to deliberately consider and do our best to avoid getting into similar situations by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Like the scripture says, Abraham had two sons and two wives, which was never meant to be, but his decision to go down to Egypt during  the time of famine in the land Cannan were he lived, changed the course of his life and equally history. Coming out of Egypt with Hagar, with the intention for her to be their slave became an alternative when they could no longer bear the pressure of childless. Even though father Abraham had other children after the death of Sarah his first wife, none of these children changed the course of human history like the child of the slave wife.

There was nothing wrong with him having two sons, but there was everything wrong with him having his first son which was meant to be the Promised child through a slave wife.

It is importance to note that when we are pressured by unpleasant situations which look contrary to God’s promises for our live, it is not the time to take the devil’s alternative which will always lead to destruction. Don’t bring things into your life/family that were never meant to be, just to look successful in the eyes of men.

Believe God and wait for His time.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
