The Marks of Freedom Part VI
Beloved, God’s word is the best medicine there is on this earth, do your best to take it daily and receive all the great benefits in it. Our scriptural focus for today states – And even those who advocate circumcision don’t keep the whole law themselves. They only want you to be circumcised so they can boast about it and claim you as their disciples. {Gal 6:13 NLT}
The main purpose of these Jewish believers who were crusading the the doctrine of circumcision as the only basis to be made right with God was not to win more people to Christ, or even to help the Galatian believers grow in grace and be established in the faith. They just wanted to make a fine impression of themselves outwardly, even though they did no righteousness inwardly. Their zeal was channelled in the wrong direction because it neither was for the glory of God nor was it for the advancement of the church.
It is good to evangelize for the sole purpose of glorifying Christ and advancing the church here on earth. It is definitely wrong and against the purpose of Christ to evangelize with the sole main of growing the membership of the church or to increase the number of those one can call his/her converts or sons/daughters in the ministry.
It is good to see more people share in the ministry God has given you, not so that you can count people and feel the ministry is the fastest growing, but because people count in God’s purpose. We all as believers must be careful not to ‘Use People’ to further our own selfish programs for our own glorification like the Jewish believers did in the days of Apostle Paul.
Let Christ be the only purpose of our ministry.
