Honouring God Part III
Beloved, It is good to have the good things of life but having them at the expense of Eternal Life is the greatest mistake anyone can make during their earthly pilgrimage. Our scriptural focus for today states – Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. {Col 1:10 NLT}
The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul drew the attention of the Colossian believers and by extension to all who will come to God through Christ Jesus, that as we meet God’s expectation of producing every kind of good fruit, it will increase our spiritual growth and capacity to know God better and better.
This scripture establishes a fundamental truth – that as a believer in Christ knows God better, it will give birth to his/her personal spiritual growth/development. Growth in every sphere of human life is a continuous thing, for instance – the day a human stop growing physically, he/she begins to decline. The same is applicable to our Spiritual life, when a believer stops growing through daily desiring the sincere milk of the Word of God, then the declining process sets in. But as you give yourself daily to knowing God through the balanced and spirit filled materials that God has made available at your disposal, spiritual growth becomes inevitable. Let your life goal be to know God better everyday through the experiences that come your way.
Spiritual growth is tied to knowing God.
