The Blessing of Giving and Receiving Part II

As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this. {Phil 4:15 NLT}

As believers, let this be our confidence, that in all circumstances, Christ our unchanging Friend and Lord will uphold us and make away of escape, so fix your eyes and affection on Him. Our scriptural focus for today states – As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.

Apostle Paul continues his commendation for the Philippian brethren, as financial partners with him in the gospel. It is disheartening to note that this church were the only one’s that supported Apostle Paul financially as he laboured in the ministry at that time.

Funding the work of ministry or supporting ministers of the gospel in their personal needs is an essential part of the assignment Christ has given to the church here on earth. It will be wrong to either shy away from it or totally neglect this great responsibility. Apostle Paul was greatly encouraged and inspired by the financial gifts from the Philippian church, for which the Holy Spirit included it in the scriptures. This has been put down here for our learning.

May the example of the Philippian brethren be the foundation for your Christian practice/lifestyle, and you will not just receive the commendation of the ministers who your gifts have both encouraged and inspired to keeping doing the work of ministry, but Christ will reward you both here on earth and in eternity.

Your gifts will advance the cause of Christ.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
