The Marks of Freedom Part VII
Beloved peace in a human life is not the absence of troubles in such a life but the presence of Christ in that life. Our scriptural focus for today states – As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. {Gal 6:14 NLT}
Apostle Paul saw the labours of the Jewish believers just as an opportunity for them to boast about their abilities and their earthly accomplishments in the ministry without Christ as the focus. There is always the temptation to play to the gallery as we labour in the kingdom of God on this earth. There is always the temptation to desire human recognition and appreciation. There is also the temptation to boast about what the Holy Spirit has done through us and can do but Apostle Paul’s genuine commitment to Christ and to the benefits of His Cross made him declare – As for me, may I never boast about anything except the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ
The phrase – As for me – establishes that many people can be boasting and projecting themselves instead of Christ in their daily life or in the ministry but Apostle Paul says – I will not follow nor copy such patterns. That phrase also establishes that whatever we will become in the hands of the Holy Spirit is dependent on our personal commitment to the path of truth and righteousness whether it is popular or unpopular. In the days of Joshua he declared to Israel you have a choice to serve other gods but As for me and my family we will serve the Lord. Beloved in your office, family, society or church have you taken that personal decision because of Christ to say many can be doing what is wrong but As for me I will stand for righteousness.
As for me – I will stand for Christ.
Have a Grace filled day – Good news awaits you.
