Faith Expressed in Love Part I
Beloved worries does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows or pains, rather it is a strategy of the devil to empty you of the divine strength the Holy Spirit supplies for each day’s victorious living. Our scriptural focus for today – For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love. {Gal 5:6 NLT}
It was difficult for some Jews who have become born again to accept that the focus of God has changed from observing rules and regulations to a life of faith in Christ Jesus expressed in love. No wonder they were doing everything within their reach to convince the Galatian Christians that without been circumcised their Christianity was in vain. Therefore the Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul draws the attention of the brethren to the fact that once a human places his/her faith in the finished work of Christ as the only source of salvation, being circumcised or remaining uncircumcised does not add any value to one’s spiritual life or continuous existence here on earth.
Circumcision was an outward sign of the Abrahamic covenant, but the death and resurrection of Christ abolished it as a sign of the new covenant under grace. Under grace, circumcision is no longer an outward sign rather it is a thing of the heart. As you come to Christ under the new covenant of grace, He circumcises your heart/spirit to enable you express the God kind of love. This kind of love can only be expressed through faith.
Apostle Paul was asking the Galatian Christians to stop focusing on things that do not add or diminish their faith rather to focus on the things that will enhance their relationship with Christ. In our generation, there are things that do not add or diminish our faith that has taken the center stage in the Church, we admonish you to focus on the things that will enhance your personal relationship with Christ.
True faith is expressed in love for Christ.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you
