Living For Christ Part I

If you desire to change your life start by changing your mindset and your words. Start speaking the words of your dream and believe it. Stop speaking the words of fear and your past failures. Our scriptural focus for today states – My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. {Gal 2:20 NLT}
Apostle Paul describes the sinful nature we all as humans inherited from Adam and Eve as the ‘Old Self, which is also called the Flesh. The Old self or The Flesh is not our physical body as is been misinterpreted in some Christian circles, rather it is the spiritual influence from the devil that lures humans to commit sin and abandon the way of righteousness in Christ. In essence the Old self/Flesh is the spirit of sin from the devil, as the Holy Spirit is the spirit of righteousness from God.
As believers, it is the understanding that we were crucified with Christ on the cross and resurrected with Him that establishes us in the way of righteousness and not the observation of rules and regulations. The Old self/Flesh which before your salvation experience was in control of your life and made you see sin as a way of life was crucified the day Christ took over your life. By this experience, no believer is a slave to sin anymore, because Christ has replaced the spirit of sin with the Spirit of righteousness in our lives. That is why righteousness for the believer is not a struggle but a way of life. You’re no longer under the control of the devil as a believer, the devil cannot force you to commit sin any longer because Christ has permanently destroyed his controlling power/influence in your life.

Christ has replaced your Old self with the Spirit of righteousness.
