Products Of The Sinful Nature Part II
Beloved, sometimes what you think is the smallest step but taken in the right direction by the guidance of the Holy Spirit can end up being the biggest and most valuable step of your life. Our scriptural focus for today states – When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures. {Gal 5:19 NLT}
The world we live in today is full of illustrations of what the corrupt human nature produces, and as to the existence and nature of manifestation of these evil works of the fall human life, no matured adult is ignorant. It is evident here that the word sinful nature (the flesh) as used in this passage denotes the fallen nature of man that has been corrupted by sin and not merely the human body; since the vices listed here are negative passions that proceed from the mind/spirit of humans.
Sexual immortality deals with adultery and fornication. Adultery – This is illicit sexual relationship between married people, while fornication generally refers to the same sinful act among unmarried people. Impurity refers to a filthiness of the heart/mind that defiles the human spirit. While lustful pleasures (lasciviousness) this refers to a wanton appetite that knows no shame which is driven by lustful desires.
These sinful acts were seen in the Galatian church for which Apostle Paul was drawing their attention to it, and in the current day church these sinful acts still rare their ugly heads. As believers in Christ, these sinful acts should not be seen in our lives because they contradict our new life in Christ.
Don’t be driven by lustful desires.
