Children, obey your parents; this is the right thing to do because God has placed them in authority over you. {Eph 6:1 TLB}
Children, as products of the marriage union between a husband and wife, should be brought up in a godly home were parents live exemplary christian lives and the Bible is the final authority on all issues. Our scriptural focus for today says – Children, obey your parents; this is the right thing to do because God has placed them in authority over you. As a godly child, you should see obedience – As doing what you are asked to do by your parents at the right time. There are three fundamental basis for which the Bible encourages children to obey their parents;
1. Because you belong to God
2. It is the right thing to do.
3. God has placed them in authority over your life.
Obedience from children to their parents introduces Order into the family and this is a necessary component for the success of the home. As a child, it is not in your best interest to either disobey or obey your parents grudgingly, moodily or out of compulsion. Do not follow the current trends in the world, that encourages children to disobey their parents and they call it child right. The right of a child is more protected, when that child lives in obedience to his/her parents in accordance with the Bible.
Obey your parents and enjoy the protection of their authority.
