The Marks of Freedom Part VIII
Beloved, Christ Jesus died for you in the public place, don’t ever seek to live for Him in this world in private. Our scriptural focus for today states – As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. {Gal 6:14 NLT}
It is becoming very obvious that it is difficult for believers to personally take a public stand for the course of Christ and righteousness. No wonder there are a lot to boast of other than the cross of Christ. Some people boast about their financial power, others boast about their political power and connections, others boast about their testimonies of healings, breakthroughs, favours, promotions, while others boast about the bigness and sophisticated nature of their church, the eloquence and powerfulness of their pastors etc. But for Apostle Paul, there is only one basis for which himself and any other believer should boast about and that is In The Cross of Christ. The cross of Christ brought Grace and Truth back to the human world, and this is the foundation of the new testament church.
In church today when believers share testimonies intended to glorify God, there is always the temptation to boast about either the role their pastor played or the role they themselves played to make that testimony happen, thereby neglecting the Cross of Christ which is the source of the spiritual power that brought about such testimonies.
There is an urgent need for a spiritual paradigm shift, there is an urgent need for believers to start focusing on the Cross of Christ as the only source of all the beautiful things we are all privileged to enjoy on this earth.
Let your boast be always in the Cross of Christ.
