Exemplary Living Part I

Beloved, you can’t go back and change your past, no matter how bad you feel about it, but you can trust the Holy Spirit to help build a better and greater future. Our scriptural focus for today states – Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. {Gal 6:4 NLT}
As believers in Christ, we must learn to prove our own work in the light of God’s word and not in the shadows of someone else’s achievements. Christ has set the example for us to walk in His steps during our earthly pilgrimage, therefore we must as a matter of importance pay careful attention to our own work/actions. We should not be seen comparing ourselves with any man whether in the ministry, office or family life. If we must compare ourselves with anybody, let Christ and His righteous standard be the one.
When words like best, fastest-growing, biggest, finest, richest etc, are used to describe Christian ministries, we must be careful who is actually getting the glory ourselves or Christ. Its not wrong to keep records about the growth of the work we do but we must be careful that we are not making others look bad just to promote ourselves.
Our satisfaction/rejoicing as we carefully look upon the work the Holy Spirit is doing through us should not come from the size of it or the earthly rewards we enjoy but from the purpose of Christ behind that work. Christ also requires that we should rejoice at the work He is doing through other members of His body, because if one member of the body is blessed, it blesses the whole body.

There is no place for competition in Christ.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
