Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? {Phil 2:1 NLT}
Naturally people most times live to make a good impression of themselves to others, we see these days that believers have followed this world system and the resultant effect is that we are building a church that is human centred. Our scriptural focus for today states – Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate?. Apostle Paul was seriously troubled by the attitudes he heard that has taken the center stage in the Philippian church, which prompted him to ask these all important questions to the church;
1. Is there any encouragement/consolation in your unity with Christ
2. Have you received any comfort from the love of Christ
3. Do you share any fellowship ( joint participation) with the Holy Spirit
4. Is your heart tender and compassionate towards one another
These questions have become very necessary today, because the spiritual values upon which the church was established are fast eroding. The love of Christ and the encouragement that it supplies into the life of a believer is no longer the basis for most christian service today. Believers are failing to understand that the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives is that of a Joint Participation/Joint Expression and not someone you only consult in times of need. The issue of selfishness/self centeredness is gradually erasing developing a heart filled with tenderness and compassion for one another and also for the dying world of sin around us. If you allow the devil to remove or downplay the importance of these spiritual foundations in your life as a believer, what you will be left with or what you will be practicing is Religion and no longer an expression of the life of Christ on this earth.
Shine the light of Christ beyond the boundaries of the church.
