The Knowledge of Christ Part IV
12 I don’t mean to say I am perfect. I haven’t learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be. {Phil 3:12 TLB}
As you make steady and sustainable growth in your unquenchable quest for the knowledge of Christ, your standard for perfection keeps rising, and what once satisfied you may now fail to do so because of the continuous discoveries of Christ you’re making by the help of the Holy Spirit. Our scriptural focus for today states – But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be. Apostle Paul recognizing that it cost the life of Jesus Christ for salvation to be made available to humans, is emphasizing that his goal for working hard to discover the priceless knowledge of Christ is to among other things fulfill the purpose for which Christ saved him from sin and gave him a new life.
As a believer, you must not loose sight of the fact that Christ saved you for a purpose, and that should be your life long pursuit as long as you live on this earth. It will be important to clarify that Christ did not bear the pain and the shame of the cross just to only give believers the best of life here on earth, and it will be totally an abuse and misplacement of the purpose of salvation for believers to think and act in this direction.
Let’s consider the following:
1. Christ save you to be the light of the world.
2. Christ saved you to prove to the devil that you can live the God kind of life in the mist of a sinful world.
3. Christ saved you, so that you can help save others through your godly lifestyle.
4. Christ saved you to give you eternal life – A glorious prize – An incorruptible crown.
5. Christ save you to make you a god on the earth, who will exercise authority/dominion on His behalf. Etc
Enhance forth, don’t waste your God given energy pursuing things that will not be a fulfilment of the purpose of Christ, be like Apostle Paul, put in your very best to become all that Christ saved you for and wants you to be for Him.
Fulfill the purpose of Christ and not your personal ambition.
