Family Relationship Part VII
As a godly child, always bear in mind that your act of obedience to the instructions of your parents brings pleasure to God your heavenly Father. Our scriptural focus for today states – Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or fret your children [do not be hard on them or harass them], lest they become discouraged and sullen and morose and feel inferior and frustrated. [Do not break their spirit.] {Col 3:21 Amp}
The instruction of God to children to obey their parents in all things did not in anyway empower the parents to maltreat their children. There has been a lot of case’s where fathers have misused their God given role in the life of their children, and this was never God’s intention for creating the family unit.
Father’s must learn through their submission to the Holy Spirit how to bring their children to obedience without provoking or harassing them. One of the very simple ways fathers can harass their children is through cursing them, when they feel offended by the behaviour of their children. As a Father, you must understand that the privileged responsibility you have in the life of your child/children is not to be used in ways that will destroy them, rather it has been given to you to contribute your portion in preserving them as godly seeds for God.
