And I have confidence from the Lord that I myself will come to see you soon. {Phil 2:24 NLT}
As ambassadors of Christ called to both bear witness and defend the gospel, it will be doing Christ and the gospel a great disservice for us to place our personal interest and needs over and above the purpose of the gospel. Our scriptural focus for today states – And I have confidence from the Lord that I myself will come to see you soon. Even though his continuous existence on this earth was hanging in the balance because of his resolve to purse the purpose of Christ that was delivered to him, Apostle Paul never lost hope in the ability of God to deliver him from the judgment of the roman government that from all indications may lead to his death.
He did not spend his time murmuring, complaining or accusing the devil of his ordeal, thereby calling fire and brimstone on the devil and on the roman government who he should have seen from his human mind as his perceived enemies, rather he declares – “I have confidence/trust in the Lord”.
Beloved when you go through unpleasant situations, which definitely are against your faith and belief, what becomes your attitude and disposition towards God and the Gospel?, will you follow the wonderful example of Apostle Paul by demonstrating your unshakable Trust and Confidence in Gods ability to deliver you, and secondly like Apostle Paul maintain your focus on the assignment you have received from Christ, which is also the reason for your ordeal, or will you follow what is trending in church today by murmuring, complaining and using words like ‘Why me’, and secondly looking for the devil to blame and a human to call your enemy. Whenever you take the second option, you will always loose focus on Christ and His assignment for you, but whenever you follow the example shown to us by Apostle Paul, you will always maintain your focus on both Christ and the assignment with joy and will also fulfill it.
Don’t allow situations change your confidence in God.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
