Salvation by Faith Part I
Sometimes in the cause of your earthly pilgrimage, God takes away something’s you never expected losing, and replaces them with things you never expected you will have. Our scriptural focus for today states – Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law. {Gal 2:16 NLT}
Obedience to the law as a prerequisite for having right standing with God was an issue the Jewish Christians found difficult to discard. Apostle Paul makes it clear to them that under Grace, which is based on the finished work of Christ on the cross, such practices can no longer bring right standing with God. Rather he declares that a person irrespective of his tribe/nation is made right with God by demonstrating absolute Faith in Jesus Christ. The days when the law was the source of righteousness was gone, and in this new era, Jesus is the only source of Righteousness.
It is misleading to be a Christian in this new era and still believe that there are conditions to meet to have right standing with God or to receive one favour or another from God outside believing in Jesus Christ. It is important for all Christians to understand that God has placed the responsibility of pleasing Him only on Christ, and if we must be people who have right standing with God, then we must discard any gospel that encourages either pleasing God or having right standing with Him through the back door of obeying the law.
Christ is the only source of righteousness
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
