That is how husbands should treat their wives, loving them as parts of themselves. For since a man and his wife are now one, a man is really doing himself a favor and loving himself when he loves his wife! {Eph 5:28 TLB}
Following the example of Christ, love is not really defined by words, rather it is defined by the Actions we{husbands} exhibit towards our wives. That you are a believer, does not exempt you from being courteous to your wife, our scriptural focus for today states – That is how husbands should treat their wives, loving them as part of themselves. Husband’s should treat their wives as Christ is doing for the church, with courtesy, gentleness and tenderness. To be Courteous means – showing regard or thought for others; especially, displaying good manners or etiquette. Having been saddled with the responsibility by God to practice and defend the principle of Two persons becoming One in marriage, every believing husband must learn to treat his wife like himself. Treating your wife well or loving her as part of yourself involves deliberately discovering those things that make her happy, that bring out the best of her and doing them, like – taking her out{for dinner, site seeing etc}, spending quality time with her, creating time to joke and play with her, buying her a gift as you can afford, etc. God created us with the ability to treat each other well, if your not doing it now it can cause your marriage some problems, but the good news is that you can start today to treat your wife as expected by God.
Life is a learning process, be humble to learn.
