The Knowledge of Christ Part V
No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. {Phil 3:13 TLB}
Self-evaluation can be a dangerous act, if it is not the Holy Spirit showing the believer his/her current spiritual state, because you can either err by over estimating yourself or by under estimating yourself. Our scriptural focus for today states – No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing. Apostle Paul was an exceptional believer, we in this generation has a lot to learn from his walk with the Holy Spirit. With all the great spiritual gifts he was privileged to possess, and with all the great manifestations of Gods power he had experienced during his missionary journeys, he still says ‘I am still not all i should be, but i am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing. His life was characterized with great spiritual hunger, such that he saw constant improvement as something that is not negotiable.
Your life too as a believer can be characterized with so much spiritual hunger that you zero down your pursuit to just one thing, like Jesus said to martha, just only One Thing is Needful. Have you discovered that which is needful for which you’re ready to dispense all your God given spiritual and physical energies pursuing for the rest of your life here on earth?.
It is this singleness of purpose that occasioned the great success Apostle Paul had in the service of Christ. Note that – A man will accomplish little who allows his/her mind to be distracted by a multiplicity of objects. Secondly – A believer will equally accomplish nothing who does not have a Single great aim and purpose for living.
Live not just to discover purpose but to fulfill it.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
