The knowledge of Christ Part VI

No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. {Phil 3:13  TLB}

When we are united with Christ by trusting in Him, in every circumstance, no matter how impossible it appears, we create the atmosphere to experience the unlimited power that raised Him from the dead. Our scriptural focus for today states – Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. Even though Apostle Paul had not become all that he desired to be in Christ, it was very important to make this all important decision if he was still going to make appreciable progress. What was that decision – Forgetting the past and focusing on the future. His past was filled with both good and bad memories, some that he celebrates and others that he wished they never happened,  notwithstanding, he took a firm decision to rather focus on the future than be consumed by either his past successes or failures.
My dear you cannot be brooding always on your past failures or successes and expect to make appreciable and steady progress in your pursuit of Christ and also in your daily life. Please note that to forget the past does not necessarily mean – failure to remember or unable to remember, but for a believer it means – You no longer allow the past to influence you, such that it determines your future. The more you deliberately refuse your past failures or successes to influence you, the more you’re setting your life on the path of recovery in the places you have failed and to achieve more success in places you have previously succeeded.
You cannot change the past, but you can change what the past means to you, by allowing the past become inspirations that speed you into the future. Break the power of your past, by living for the future. There are more things ahead than what you have either lost or gained, so be focus, quit complaining and start working out the great future Christ has laid ahead of you.

The past is the enemy of the future.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
