The Church and Persecution Part I

You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion—how I violently persecuted God’s church. I did my best to destroy it. {Gal 1:13  NLT}

To spend time in meditating on the reality of Gods supremacy and who He has made us to be in Christ, is very essential to repairing the damage of sin in the human life. Our scriptural focus for today states – You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion—how I violently persecuted God’s church. I did my best to destroy it.
Apostle paul recounts his past conduct as an unconverted Jewish teacher. The testimony of how he persecuted the early church was so evident that he could say to the galatian brethren – You know what i was like when i followed the Jewish religion. He didn’t just persecute the church with the aim of reducing their growing influence, but he wanted to destroy the church, no wonder he gave it his very best.
From the statement of apostle paul, it is obvious that from the very beginning, the church of Jesus was never immuned from human persecutions. Many have risen after apostle paul with the sole aim of destroying the church, and to ensure that the name Jesus Christ and His work was erased from human dictionary, like apostle paul they gave their very best but they also failed.
It will be important for believers to be aware that persecution has been part of the church and will always be part of the church till Jesus comes, but the assurance we have from God is that no matter who the persecutors are and no matter how power they appear to be and no matter the extent of their efforts, the church of Jesus is indestructible. Hear the words of Jesus – Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. {Matt 16:18 NLT}

The weakest of God, is stronger than the best of the devil.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
